Victoria Mew 
Ever since attending a Trackways family camp when she was 12 years old, which felt like being gifted a window into the secret of life through the old ways and primitive skills shared,  Victoria has been passionate about bringing transformative deep nature connection experiences to adults and children.
 
She returned again and again to Trackways throughout her teenage years and was also lucky enough to spend summers immersed in epic adventures and teachings at Coyote Tracks in the USA and later the Tracker School, culminating in the year- long Immersion course at Wilderness Awareness School (then called Anake).  The lineage of teachings she carries through these courses and experiences is from Grandfather Stalking Wolf, via Tom Brown Jr and Jon Young, and many other teachers who had learned from them.  During her time at Wilderness Awareness School, she recognised a bundle of cultural teachings known as ‘8 Shields’ had not yet made it over to the UK and initiated bringing the UK’s first week-long intensive in the 8 Shields called the Art of Mentoring in 2010.  She then organised and presented on the Art of Mentoring for multiple subsequent years.
 
Her passion for the topic continued as she studied Human Sciences at UCL with her research dissertation on How Growing Up Separate From Natural Environments Affects Childhood Development.  After graduating she founded Cultivating Curiosity in 2012, a nature connection and mentoring offering for children that has grown and thrived ever since.  Victoria was also part of the team that set up Sacred Earth in Sussex, a community owned land project offering intergenerational, teen and adult nature connection courses, and was an instrumental part of developing the Earth Steward Apprenticeship (ESA) for teens, a monthly journey in nature connection for teens involving overnights and culminating in a survival quest, and ESA Jr for pre-teens to have their first overnights in shelters they’ve built themselves as a step towards ESA.
 
Victoria co-authored Learning with Nature, a well-loved book with how-to games and activities used by nature connectors, families and forest school leaders, published in 2015.
 
In 2017 she was blessed to learn from Sal Gencarelle of Helpers Mentoring Society, who is a carrier of Lakota lineage, ceremony and teachings, offering deep experience and insight into threshold moments and rites of passage that has shaped her and her work ever since.
 
In 2018, she offered her first adult immersion year course alongside Daniel Yabsley and Anna Richardson, called ‘Seeing Through Nature’s Eyes’, which repeated in subsequent years until 2020.  Her ‘Indigenous You’ course in 2026 will be her first adult year course offering since taking a break to embark on her journey of motherhood.
 
Having been asked to write a second book on nature connection activities, in 2020 Victoria launched a project she had been brewing in the previous years – Red Squirrel Resources. This online offering provided the platform for her to share ways to empower and enable others around the world to bring deep nature connection into their communities.  Red Squirrel Resources encompasses a rich library of over 250 'how-to' videos of games, activities, songs and stories, alongside supporting explanatory documents and risk assessments, that all cultivate deep nature connection.
 
Her unbridled passion to bringing nature connection to others is rooted in what she recognised it gave her during her own teen years: deep security through an incredible sense of being at home in the natural world. Given the enduring nature of this relationship, it provides a foundation to access becoming increasingly at home within ourselves.
